“Every Child Is Our Child”

CVUUF member Lorella Hess traveled to Ghana this spring with UUA President Peter Morales and others to visit this program, a partnership between the UU United Nations Office (UU-UNO) and the Queen Mothers of Manye-Krobo, Ghana.

Every Child Is Our Child makes sure that children orphaned by AIDS go to school and have homes, food, and medical care. This supports the UN’s Millennium Development Goals: reduce extreme poverty, promote gender equality, help combat the spread of AIDS, and lead to sustainable economic growth. After the delegation’s return, Rev. Morales announced his conviction that “We must expand this program.”

Tonight’s presentation will review our visit and highlight the good work. We will also hear from Allison Hess, who interned this summer at the UU-UNO and can provide updates on ECOC and the role of UU-UNO as a leader in the UN’s ecumenical community.
